An Introduction to WordPress Menus

In order to create a custom menu on WordPress, go to the side bar and select Appearances. After that select ‘menus’. As soon as the page opens type in a name for your menu and click on ‘create menu’ button. Select your new menu and a theme and location box. Click ‘save’ to save these proceedings. Just below this, there is a Custom Links box which allows you to add the URL from another site. Create label to be displayed on your site and click on the ‘Add to Menu’ button to add the link to your site.

The Pages box will allow choosing from your recent pages. If you wish to see all your pages you can click on ‘view all’. Check the boxes with the items that you wish to add and hit ‘Add to Menu’. Likewise in the Category Box you can view all and the check the boxes you want to add in the menu. Click on ‘Add to Menu’. After you have added items to the menu, you can arrange the items in any order you like. To create sub menus you can click and drag on the items you like. Clicking on the Drop Down arrow will allow you to see more options for each item in the menu.

Removing an item is also easy. Simple click on the ‘remove’ button in a red text. Click on cancel to cancel any changes you have made till now. To get more menu options click on the ‘screen options’ tab. Click on ‘save menu’ to save the changes. To see the changes, type your website’s name on top of the page.
